RIGHT IN TWO

Description

This is my interpretation of the TOOL song, "Right In Two" from the album, "10,000 Days"

I've been working on this for a very, very long time, and thinking about it for even longer. This is actually my second attempt at this. The first one ended in an epic failure, and I'm glad that it did. I love the way this turned out. When I draw, only about 1% of what I'm thinking ever translates to the actual drawing. This ALMOST looks like the image in my head!:dummy:

I want to thank the band TOOL for having such expressive songs. The kind of songs that someone with an Imagination like mine can use for art. :D

"Angels on the sideline again,
Benched along with patience and reason.
Angels on the sideline again,
Wondering where this tug of war will end.

Gotta divide it all right in two."

Man this piece left an impact on me even before I actually listened to the real song, and the real song made your picture even more strong. I see how this was inspired and it's freaking brilliant. There are so many things I enjoy about how strikingly beautiful it is.

The first thing I found very excellent was the use of detail made with your colored pencils. The fact that you actually drew a lot of little eyeballs with the teal pattern in the iris looks like it took a lot of effort to do. Secondly, I enjoy how realistic the blood is coming from the Earth into a puddle. You also nailed the anatomy there with that person and the color usage stimulates my mind. You really know how to use your medium.

The most important thing I found striking was how well the main atmosphere in the song was translated to this picture. You nailed it, man.

Like all pieces, there is always something that can be improved on in future pieces. The first thing I have to say is that I'm not exactly sure where the lighting is coming from. Is it the side? Because that's kind of how it looks. It also would've helped if you added reflected light on his hair. That adds depth to the person. Also one other thing I can suggest is if you're really going for a super realistic look, you could shrink the eyes a tad. Although having the eyes like that might have been a stylistic choice. These little tweaks don't really distract from the main picture, though, it's still deep.

Overall, I can tell how much effort you put into this piece and how you put your skills into action. Nice work! I really like what you've done. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/t/t…" width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Thumbs Up"/>
